How to create a Funnel Chart in Excel?
A funnel chart type is a chart type that can be used for presenting sales data. A funnel chart can display stages of sales progress or potential sales in the future. It can also be just way a wat to show a sales report.
To insert a funnel chart, you need data. Let it be just a sales report. It should look like this. Remember to sort data in descending order.
Next, go to Ribbon > Insert > Column > 100% Stacked Cone.
The funnel chart looks like in the pictures below.
Click on one of the columns. Go to Ribbon > Design > and click Switch Row/Column.
The chart changed. Now it looks more like a pyramid chart than a funnel chart.
Next, click Ribbon > Layout > 3-D Rotation.
That’s what the sales pyramid chart should look like. It’s still a pyramid. A few more steps and it will turn into a funnel chart.
Go to Ribbon again. Layout > Axes > Primary Vertical Axis > More Primary Vertical Axis Options. In the dialog box, tick Values in reverse order.
There is something more to do on the Ribbon:
- Layout > Axes > Primary Horizontal Axis > None
- Layout > Axes > Primary Vertical Axis > None
- Layout > Gridlines > Primary Horizontal Gridlines > None
- Layout > Data Labels > More Data Label Options > tick Series Name and Value
Now the Funnel Chart is ready.
